Newer drug for Schizophrenia, Invega Sustenna, not better than old drug Haldol

From Science Daily on 05/20/14:

Among adults with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, treatment with the newer, more costly antipsychotic paliperidone palmitate (Invega Sustenna), compared with the older antipsychotic haloperidol decanoate (Haldol), found no significant difference on a measure of effectiveness, according to a recent study. Long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications are prescribed to reduce nonadherence to drug therapy and relapse in people diagnosed with a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder. The relative effectiveness of long-acting injectable versions of second-generation and older antipsychotic medications has not been previously assessed.
