New York State rich in water

I have lived in New York State my whole life (64 years) and most of it on the North Coast, 11 miles from Lake Ontario. I have drank Lake Ontario water almost my whole life, bathed in it, cooked in it, played in it.

If you believe the futurists, water is becoming the new oil. Those areas that have it will be rich and those that don't will suffer or dissolve.

So I was delighted to read in the recent issue of Rural Futures, the fall issue 2009, that New York State has joined in the Great Lakes Compact to protect our water. While people have been leaving New York State for warmer climates in the Sun Belt, here's betting that within 25 years they will be coming back or not leaving.
