Boston Noir (see carousel in right side bar)edited by Dennis Lehane is a book of short stories that take place in Boston. As part of the "noir" genre they all are deep, dark and have kind of a mystery or twist at the end.
Being a Social Worker I enjoyed them because most of the characters are eccentric or a little off and the predicaments and situations are all a tad deviant in one way or another.
