Can the President and Vice President just order the assasinations of people? Should we teach this to our kids in civics class?

Amy Goodman says on her show on March 31, 2009:

Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh created a stir earlier this month when he said the Bush administration ran an “executive assassination ring” that reported directly to Vice President Dick Cheney. “Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or to the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving,” Hersh said. Seymour Hersh joins us to explain.

It is unbelievable that the President and Vice-President of the United States can just order the assasinations of people it doesn't like. What happened to the rule of law and justice and due process?

We are living in a toltalitarian secret state. I don't think most Americans would believe this but Bush and Cheney clearly are murderers.
