Treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder does work, studies find

There is more hope now than ever before for people suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder. An article in the January 15, 2010, Psychiatric News, reports on two studies which appear in the December, 2009 issue of the American Journal Of Psychiatry, which found that DBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and MBT, Mentalization - based Treatment, work better than the customary clinical care that most people with Borderline Personality Disorder receive.

The biggest problem that I can see is that DBT and MBT require quite a commitment from patients to many months of outpatient treatment. However, making the commitment and engaging in the treatment gets good results and saves years of suffering not only for the person suffering from BPD but for their loved ones as well.
