Brothers, the film

Brothers is a tough film to watch. It is serious, painful, and full of suffering of the most tragic kind.

All Americans, especially our politicians who have sacrificed our soldiers and our nation to years of debt, should watch this film to understand the terrible human cost to war. For every soldier sent to war that soldier's family, friends, and community is significantly affected.

I will be 64 on Christmas Day when I and the King of Peace were born. My father had just gotten home from World War II. I lived through the Viet Namese drafts, and my son through the first Persian Gulf war and it seems that my grandchildren also will be subjected to misguided jingoist empire building nationalism of more wars based on the immoral and misguided "Bush doctrine".

I had hoped for more from Barak Obama. That is why I voted for him. I have been terribly disappointed and this film comes just as he has pledged to escalate the war in Afghanistan.

Go and see this film. It is not a film for children. Teenagers though would do well to see it to understand the world they are growing up in. Bailee Madison should win an Academy Award for her portrayal of Captain Cahill's 10 year old daughter.
