Religulous, the film

I'm a Netflix subscriber and have been for about 5 years. Often times it takes me a couple of days to watch a movie unless it is really a gut grabber. As I've gotten older, I have walked out of more movies or sent them back partially watched more and more and this past year I have probably done this more often and all the rest of my life all put together. I am not sure why this is whether I am getting more impatient as I get older, and/or I realize my life is getting shorter and I don't have the time left to waste on crap.

I did watch Religulous all the way through but I almost gave up toward the end. It took me about 4 days to watch it in 15 - 20 minute chunks. I like Bill Maher and agree with him but I found this movie repetitious and tedious at times. Part of the reason is that I already know the stuff he is talking about and am familiar with arguments which he makes. I suppose for someone younger and more gullible it might seem fresh and shocking. If you are a student of comparative religion probably this movie doesn't have much to offer you. If you are sheltered and a fundamentalist, you probably will be scandalized. I think everyone should probably see this movie in middle school or high school.

If you are a mental health and/or a human service professional you should be familiar with the world's religions and other philosophical beliefs.

You can read more about this film on the Internet Movie Database by clicking here.

I give it a 3 out of 5 stars on the Markham movie rating scale.
